Diagnosis of pernicious anaemia. Associated with the presence of circulating antibodies to parietal cells and intrinsic factor.
What's included
Intrinsic Factor Antibody Test
The Intrinsic Factor Antibody (IFA) test is used to check for antibodies that attack a protein called intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor is essential for the absorption of vitamin B12 in the small intestine. If the body produces antibodies against intrinsic factor, it can lead to a condition called pernicious anemia, where the body can't absorb enough vitamin B12, causing symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and nerve problems. Therefore, this test helps diagnose pernicious anemia and other conditions related to vitamin B12 deficiency.
Full Blood Count with differential
The full blood count is used as a broad screening test to check for such disorders as anaemia (decrease in red blood cells or haemoglobin), infection, and many other diseases. It is actually a group of tests that examine different parts of the blood. Results from the following tests provide the broadest picture of your health.
